Punjab Kings will make their much-awaited return to its home ground, Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, after a gap of almost four years.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the franchise did not get an opportunity to play any Indian Premier League (IPL) matches at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium since 2019.
Punjab Kings had last played an IPL match in Mohali against the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 5, 2019.
Electing to field first, the Kings rode on Sam Curran’s three-wicket haul to restrict CSK to 170/5 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, KL Rahul’s 36-ball 71 and Nicholas Pooran’s 36 off 22 balls helped Punjab chase down the target in just 18 overs to register a commanding six-wicket win.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings are scheduled to play five home matches at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in the upcoming edition of the IPL.
