Kings XI Punjab haven’t had the best of starts to the 2020 Dream11 Indian Premier League, and currently find themselves bottom of the table with one win from their first seven games in the competition. Nevertheless, the 2014 IPL finalists are still not out of the tournament, and the second half of the group stages could bring about a change in fortunes for Anil Kumble and the rest of the KXIP management.
One player who remains optimistic about Punjab’s changes even now is none other than the Universe Boss- Chris Gayle.
“Seven games to go, we believe we can win all seven, it is still possible,” said Chris Gayle in an exclusive interview with Kings XI Punjab.
“I know we are at the bottom of the table but it is still possible. I urge each and everyone of the guys to still have that self belief, like I said, the only way we can go is up, it is only up from here, so we are going to do it, we can do it,” added the opening batsmen from Jamaica.
One big boost for the franchise would be the fact that they currently don’t have any injuries and are free to choose from their entire squad of 25, with both Sheldon Cottrell and Chris Gayle being deemed fit for the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday.
Gayle is yet to feature for KXIP in the 2020 IPL season, but in the past two seasons he has consistently been amongst the runs. The Universe Boss was the second highest run getter for Punjab in the 2019 IPL season, getting four fifties. The KXIP management would hope that Gayle picks up from where he left off last season, if he is to take the field on Thursday for the RCB game.
