Punjab Kings leggie Rahul Chahar has been among the wickets so far in the Tata Indian Premier League 2022. The spinner has picked up seven wickets in four games, including big names like MS Dhoni and Shreyas Iyer.
The spinner will now be seen against Mumbai Indians, his former team with whom he spent four years. The Punjab Kings have the advantage of having someone who knows the opposition this closely with Rahul Chahar in their side now.
Ahead of the clash, Chahar, in an exclusive interview with the Punjab Kings, opened up about playing against the Mumbai Indians and how he is going to prepare for them.
Strategizing against Ro. and Co
He emphasized on how it doesn’t matter who he was playing against. There might be a well-informed unit against him, but the fact that he knows the unit inside-out is a big advantage for the youngster.
“I will definitely try to give my hundred percent as always. Mainly, there are two or three batters who are challenging to bowl against that I have my eye on. Suryakumar Yadav, for instance, is in great form. Rohit, too, is a top batter,” Chahar said,
“I am preparing well for them and looking forward to bowling to them,” a thrilled Chahar said. “I am also making specific plans for all of these guys, let’s see how it goes,” Chahar added.
Rivals first, friends next
Chahar opened up about how having a familiar opponent is nothing new to him. “From childhood, I have played against my brother. It doesn’t matter if he is in front of me or anybody else. My job is to make my team win, and I will do whatever it takes to get that result,” Chahar said.
He also said that his game is immaterial of who he is playing against. “As a player, when you step onto the field, it does not matter who is playing against you. I just want to perform my best every single game, and this does not change anything about it,” he added.
It is to be seen what fireworks our spin wizard can bring out during the game against the Mumbai Indians. So far, he has been on fire, not just with his seven wickets, but also with a great economy rate of 6.31.
Chahar has been unplayable by many. It will be interesting to see what he has up his sleeve against his former team. Sher Squad, pick your favourite spot in front of the TV and get ready to watch PBKS take on MI on Wednesday, April 13, at 7.30 PM.
