The International Cricket Council announced their latest rankings for T20 Internationals earlier today, and for Kings XI Punjab fans, it was a sight to behold as three of their bowlers now feature in the top ten rankings. Mujeeb ur Rahman, Sheldon Cottrell and Chris Jordan all featured in the top 10 in the latest ICC T20 International rankings for bowlers.

Mystery spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman retained his place in second place behind his countryman Rashid Khan, who continued to occupy the top spot. The 19-year-old came into the 2020 Dream11 Indian Premier League off the back of a very successful Caribbean Premier League season, where he was the second highest wicket-taker. Exactly a year prior, Mujeeb also claimed the record of being the youngest player to pick 100 T20 wickets, piping Rashid Khan to that record.

Joining Mujeeb in the top 10 rankings for T20 Internationals in West Indies’ Sheldon Cottrell and England’s Chris Jordan. Cottrell bumped up a place from tenth to ninth, following an admirable performance against New Zealand in their recently concluded T20 series. The muscular left-arm bowler also played well for Kings XI Punjab in the 2020 IPL season, picking up six wickets in as many games and causing all sorts of problems to opposition batsmen at the start of the innings.

Chris Jordan broke into the top 10 rankings, gaining two places from the last time the stats were curated. The 32-year-old recently became England’s leading wicket-taker in T20 Internationals, usurping that record from Stuart Broad after good performances in the away series against South Africa. Jordan accounted for the wicket of opposition skipper Quinton de Kock in all three games in that series, showing his experience and versatility to shine in a star studded English bowling setup.

Rahul up a place in batsmen rankings

On the batting front, Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul moved up a place from fourth to third in the latest T20 International batting rankings. The 28-year-old is the highest ranked player from his country on that list, behind only to Pakistan’s Babar Azam and England’s Dawid Malan. Rahul’s franchise teammate Glenn Maxwell also featured in the top ten list, retaining his rank and keeping the seventh place.

Both batsmen were amongst the runs in their recently concluded T20I series, with both being the third highest run getters for their respective countries in that series.
