Punjab Kings fans haven’t had much to celebrate in this past week, as their team slumped to three consecutive losses after winning their first game against Rajasthan Royals. KL Rahul’s side lost by nine wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday, leaving them in a precarious position in the 2021 VIVO Indian Premier League after four games.
“Every game from now on is going to be important for us, we as Punjab Kings have always been in that sort of position, we get to a point where we have to win everything.
“It is not a bad place to be in to be honest. Now it is about going out there and playing with some freedom, and that will do a lot of good for us as a group. Hopefully, we can learn from our mistakes and keep getting better,” said captain KL Rahul in the post-match interview.
KL Rahul’s words were echoed by Punjab Kings debutant Moises Henriques, who believes there is still a lot of scope for the team to come good if they can learn quickly.
“We can only control two things- our actions and our attitude, that’s all that we can keep doing. Keep trying to learn, keep trying to get better and bring on the next game,” said Moises in an exclusive interview to Punjab Kings.
Teething Problems
This was Punjab Kings’ first game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai for IPL 2021, and KL Rahul acknowledged the fact that it took some time for his players to adjust to these new conditions, while ultimately ended up costing them the game.
“The conditions were tough, we knew what to expect but we did fall 10-15 runs short. A few batters after getting set couldn’t go through and the bowlers tried very hard, but it is very difficult coming into new conditions and adapting quickly. Hopefully we learn from this mistake when we have our next game here,” said Rahul.
