
Punjab Kings successfully defended a modest total of 111 to defeat Kolkata Knight Riders by 16 runs in Match 31 of the Indian Premier League 2025 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium on Tuesday.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Punjab were bowled out in 15.3 overs. Despite a rapid 30 off 15 balls from Prabhsimran Singh and 22 off 12 from Priyansh Arya, the hosts lost wickets at regular intervals. Harshit Rana led Kolkata’s bowling attack with figures of 3 for 25, while Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy picked up two wickets apiece.

In reply, Kolkata Knight Riders were bowled out for 95 in 15.1 overs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi top-scored with 37 off 28 balls, but Punjab’s bowling unit struck in regular intervals to derail the chase.

Yuzvendra Chahal was the standout performer, returning figures of 4 for 28 in his four overs, which earned him the Player of the Match award. Marco Jansen provided key support with 3 for 17, while Arshdeep Singh and Glenn Maxwell chipped in with one wicket each. The result gave Punjab Kings two crucial points, boosting their standing in the league.
