Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 97* off 42 balls powered Punjab Kings to a narrow 11-run victory over Gujarat Titans in a high-scoring contest at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday.

Batting first, Punjab Kings posted 243/5 in 20 overs, their second-highest total in IPL history. Iyer led from the front, smashing nine sixes and five fours at a strike rate of 230.95. Debutant Priyansh Arya provided a brisk start with 47 off 23 balls, while Shashank Singh’s late blitz of 44* off 16 deliveries ensured a formidable total.

In response, Gujarat Titans made a strong start, with Shubman Gill (33) and Sai Sudharsan (74 off 41) adding 61 runs for the first wicket. Jos Buttler contributed a 33-ball 54, and Sherfane Rutherford’s steady 46 off 28 kept Gujarat in the hunt. However, Punjab’s disciplined bowling, led by Vijaykumar Vyshak’s crucial middle-over spells, restricted Gujarat to 232/5 at the end of their 20 overs.

Punjab Kings secured their opening win of the season, claiming two points in a high-scoring encounter.
