In a big boost to Kings XI Punjab, their marquee fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell has made a full recovery from his injury, and will be available for selection for the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday, October 15 in the 2020 Dream11 Indian Premier League. Alongside Cottrell, his fellow countryman Chris Gayle has also been deemed fit a couple of days back, and should be available for the RCB game.
Sheldon Cottrell suffered a groin injury in one of the training sessions in the past week, and therefore missed out in KXIP’s last game against the Kolkata Knight Riders. “Chris Jordan comes in for Cottrell, who has a niggle and might miss out on a couple of games,” Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul had said during the toss of that game.
Fortunately for Rahul and the rest of the KXIP management, Cottrell has made a swift recovery from his groin injury, and will be in contention after missing just one game. The muscular left-arm pacer also attended last evening’s training session for Kings XI Punjab, and bowled a bit in the nets.
Cottrell’s return could be a big boost for Kings XI Punjab who need to start winning games soon if they are to make the semifinals for IPL 2020. The 31-year-old has six wickets so far in his six games for KXIP, and has been economical at the start of the innings for his franchise. Cottrell dismissed both Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli when KXIP played Royal Challengers Bangalore in the return fixture, helping his side to an empathic win.
With a fully fit squad at his disposal, Anil Kumble and the rest of the KXIP team would once again be optimistic of getting a favourable result and reigniting their push for a top four finish when they play RCB on Thursday.
