Andrew Tye continued his three-fer run in Australia's five-wicket win over Zimbabwe in the sixth match of the T20 International Tri-Series at Harare on Friday. He is now the joint highest wicket-taker with Rashid Khan in T20s in 2018 with 50 scalps to his name.

After having asked to bowl first, Australian skipper Aaron Finch introduced Tye into the attack in the eighth over. The Kings XI Punjab pacer was quick to turn to his slower balls and bowled a tight first over. While he was agonizingly close to picking up a wicket in his second over, he got rid of Elton Chigumbura in the next one, caught at square-leg.

Tye was top notch in his final over when his slower delivery hornswoggled Malcolm Waller. His final causality was Zimbabwe’s best batsman of the day; Solomon Mire whose stumps were castled as Tye finished with figures of 3/28 in his quota of four overs.

With Zimbabwe posting 151/9, Australia were coasting at 129/2 before three quick wickets tightened things a bit. They were 139/5 when Travis Head departed with 13 still needed off 10 balls.

It’s here when KXIP’s all-rounder Marcus Stoinis played a crucial seven-ball cameo and scored 12 runs that included the boundary that sealed the victory for Australia with just a ball to spare.

For his consistency and incisiveness, Tye claimed the Man of the Match award.

“It's something I've been working on, taking wickets at crucial times,” Tye reflected on his bowling. “I've got lucky in this series, taking wickets in the death and stopping teams when they want more runs.

“Just got to look at where the batsmen are trying to hit balls and then mix their rhythm up by changing pace, the line and length. So just trying to adapt to every batsman because they're all different,” he added.

Tye's terrific T20 form continued from the VIVO Indian Premier League where he got the Purple Cap for picking the most number of wickets, despite missing out on the Playoffs opportunity. With 12 wickets in this series so far, Tye will be hoping for a similar performance when he faces Pakistan in the final on Sunday.
